Why we started Scent + Art
I wanted to build a perfume house that treats the customer as a collaborator, not an audience.
I grew up treating fragrance as a kind of memory-keeping. A scent for the house I was raised in, a scent for a walk I never wanted to forget, a scent for a person I loved.
Most perfumery is built to keep that process private, a closed room where a few decide what you are allowed to wear. Scent + Art is built the opposite way. We source the oils, we perfect the recipes, we test everything ourselves, and then we hand the work back to you.
Our first release was a small signature kit. Now The Bar is open too, hand-poured decants of the fragrances we love, so you can explore before you compose. More will follow, slowly, as it is ready.
Four principles that shape every bottle.

Ingredients first, always.
We buy fragrance oils at cosmetic grade, the same quality carried by established perfume houses. No synthetic shortcuts, no filler alcohol, no hidden substitutions.

The bottle is yours to compose.
A fragrance is not finished the day it leaves our studio. It is finished the day you blend it. Every kit we sell is deliberately unfinished.

Small batches, made by hand.
Our studio in Warren, Michigan is a working room, not a factory. Each kit is assembled, inspected, and packed by hand, by our small team.

Released when it is ready.
We do not follow seasons. A recipe takes as long as it takes, sometimes months of testing before it becomes a card in the box.
